A Lot of People Showed up to Washington Square Park Tonight

So there was a little event held tonight at Washington Square Park in New York City, perhaps you heard about it? It was of course another massive Bernie Sanders rally. Yes the word massive has been used to describe his rallies before and that word fit then but tonight was a different kind of massive.

The campaign is giving a conservative estimate of over 27,000 in the park itself but the overflow crowd, that crammed the streets for blocks around the park is estimated to top 20,000. We are reading reports on social media suggesting maybe as many as 48K to 50K but no matter what the actual number ends up being, it’s clear that a good portion of New York supports Bernie. Tack on another 40K plus that are reported to have watched on various streaming services and this event becomes even more epic.

Here’s a shot from behind the stage as Senator Bernie Sanders was speaking to a sea of supporters.

Director Spike Lee and actors Tim Robbins and Rosario Dawson were on hand as well as Vampire Weekend who played a four song set. Sanders took the stage about an hour after the rockers in Vampire Weekend delighted the crowd. He stuck closely to his trademark speech that has electrified and energized legions of Berners all across the country and why not? It’s what has got us where we are.
