Bernie plans to use science, rather than empty political words, to slow and reverse global warming/climate change (global warming refers to the planet as a whole, climate change focuses on specific areas). Bernie understands (unlike many politicians) we have a very limited window of time before the planet becomes a hellhole. He knows maintaining a safe and healthy planet for our kids and grandchildren requires a decrease in carbon pollution emissions by at least 80 percent from 1990 levels by the year 2050 (not impossible….if we “decide” to). Bernie agrees with leading economists that a tax on carbon is one of the most straightforward and cost-effective strategies for quickly fighting climate change. He also believes in promoting wind and solar energy to replace coal and oil.

The solar industry has been growing steadily, and is adding workers at a rate nearly 20 times faster than the general economy. Solar industry jobs have increases by 86 percent in the past five years, creating roughly 80,000 living-wage jobs. The wind turbine industry has also been growing at a pretty good clip. This is a direction for our country Bernie supports

What can you do to help save the planet? Minimize your driving. Walk, bicycle, take the bus, consolidate your car trips by limiting your gasoline consumption. Car pool. Use less electricity. Inconvenient? Try living on the planet you leave to your children, if you don’t. Massive deserts. Going from building to building by way of tunnels. Violent weather that destroys everything in its path. Air that is too hot to breathe. Is that what you want for your children? Voting for Bernie changes the direction of global warming.

Bernie is introducing a climate change bill that will tax polluters who are causing the climate crisis. The carbon tax he is proposing will also protect low-income and minority communities from suffering through the transformation of our energy system, and to protect the most vulnerable communities in the country suffering the ravages of climate change. He has opposed fracking for natural gas, and is opposed to fracking in general

Choosing Bernie means choosing to lead the clean energy technology revolution. It means stopping the worst effects of global warming. It also means America will remain a worldwide leader in job creation, domestic manufacturing, local community revitalization, and clean energy technology development.
