Sign Robert Reich’s Petition to the DNC: Add More Debates Immediately

DFA Logo

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich has started a petition to demand more debates at times people can actually watch them.

He recently sent out a mass email urging folks that believe in the Democratic process to sign the petition. You can do that HERE.

Reich wants to give you one more chance to sign the petition he started with Democracy for America before the new year — demanding that the Democratic National Committee schedule more weeknight, prime time presidential debates ASAP.

This petition is taking off — with more than 60,000 Americans signing it over a holiday weekend — which is why it’s vitally important that we keep the momentum going strong in the coming days.

We’re running out of time to convince the DNC to hold more debates with Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and Martin O’Malley. If they don’t, they’ll be giving the GOP an edge in a crucial election year. Click here to sign my petition with Democracy for America now.

As it stands, nearly every single Democratic presidential debate is scheduled to air when no one will be available to watch it.

The Republicans, on the other hand, are holding twice as many debates as the Democrats are, and most of them are in prime time.

This means that the news media is spending most of their time and energy talking about Republican candidates and Republican ideas, while the Democrats seem almost invisible.

It’s not too late to change this dynamic and expose the ideas of our presidential candidates to voters — but we need to act quickly. Please sign Reich’s petition with DFA demanding that the DNC schedule more prime time, weeknight presidential debates ASAP.

Stop hiding our primary process from the American people, if Hillary is too weak to survive a healthy debate schedule in the primaries, she is too weak to survive in the general election.

  5. Steven Cornia

It is absurd how the democratic primary debates are hidden from the public. It truly is a discrace to democracy and anti-American.

We the people want more Democratic Debates….If not I will support an Independent run for Bernie Sanders….

The DNC has done a great disservice to Democrats by following Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s lead. Please remedy that immediately by adding more debates with better viewing times.

  10. The Democratic Party needs more exposure through Presidential Debates with Trump dominating the news it is if the Democrats do not exist. Take your thumb off the scale Debbie.

Why is it, I wonder, that I have this recurring thought that a secret backroom strategy at the DNC is that Schultz and her lieutenants have convinced themselves that when it comes down to the day Americans will decide who to vote for in the primary they will choose “the lesser of two evils” even though Senator Sanders has consistently kept himself above such nasty politics…which is the very reason Democrats are so disgusted by the obvious smell coming from the back room. Do we really want to have a “leader” from the establishment who won’t even rise to the level of communicating honestly about an issue that continues to be important to the very people she imagines will vote for her anyway?
