Bernie Will Be On NH Ballot No Matter What
Okay, there’s little story that has circulating for months that the New Hampshire Secretary Of State Bill Gardner might not allow Bernie Sanders on the ballot. I actually read about it back in May and assumed it would just go away, because it really is a non-issue. Yes I know it says he’s supposed to be a registered Democrat….blah, blah, blah but he comes from a state that doesn’t require registration and there is precedence in this situation. I simply took the time to read all the available information and while sure anything is possible, I didn’t see how they could keep me off the ballot.
When Howard Dean, the former Vermont Governor filed to run in the Democratic primary in his unsuccessful 2004 bid for President Gardner allowed it, although like Sanders Dean wasn’t registered in his home state of Vermont. When George Bush Sr. filed to run for the Republican nomination for president in 1980 and 1988 and George W. Bush filed in 2000 and 2004, it was no problem. Their home state of Texas does not register voters by party. Al Gore, whose home state of Tennessee does not register voters by party, ran into no issues from Gardner when he ran in 1988 and 2000
And while some Sanders supporters on the internet have lost their minds with the remotest of possibilities that he won’t be included, primed of course by the click-seeking corporate media, Bernie Sanders confidently had this to say, “I do not anticipate problems getting on the ballot in New Hampshire.”
In Sanders’ corner is the Democratic Party Chair from New Hampshire, Raymond Buckley who has written a letter to Gardner stating emphatically that Sen. Bernie Sanders is considered a member of the Democratic Party. Read the letter HERE
