With the Super Tuesday contests in the rearview mirror and fading from sight (I know it’s only been 24 hours) all eyes are on what comes next. And next is March 10, which, while not quite as big as the 14 state behemoth of March 3rd, it has the potential to springboard either Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders or former Vice President Joe Biden into the clear front-runner position. News broke today that Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren will end her campaign, so the table is set for a head to head showdown between Biden and Sanders.

On Tuesday, March 10, six different states will hold primaries, though. Those states include:

  • Idaho
  • Michigan
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • North Dakota
  • Washington

During the 2016 campaign Sanders won four of the six including Idaho, Michigan, North Dakota and Washington with a near miss in Missouri, with Hillary Clinton winning 49.6% – 49.4%. And while contests in Idaho, North Dakota and Washington were lopsided affairs in favor of Sanders, Clinton handily won Mississippi. The final state though, Michigan found Sanders hammering out a close win in 2016 and that one is the biggest prize on March 10 with 125 delegates. The Michigan contest is of course still talked about today since all the polling showed Clinton winning a blowout, with Nate Silver’s 538 website giving her a 99% chance of winning during their final prediction.

Sanders would seem to have the edge on March 10, all things being equal, considering his past showing in these states and with Biden’s atrocious record on middle class killing free-trade agreements like NAFTA that have absolutely decimated many communities in Michigan. Many people attribute Clinton’s failed campaign in Michigan to her support of free-trade and Biden will likely face the same scrutiny as we get closer to the time people enter the voting booth.

And while we can expect to see more from the elite political class coalescing around Biden this week, Sanders has landed his own high profile Michiganders such as Squad member Rashida Tlaib and musician Jack White. And who can forget the amazing rally they both did with Bernie Sanders?

Out west Sanders recently held a rally in the Tacoma Dome, about 35 miles south of Seattle and just north of 17 thousand people showed up to cheer on the Senator. Washington is Bernie country and he should do well out here once again. And although it’s not quite as large as Michigan in terms of delegates, the 89 at stake in the Evergreen State are an important piece of the puzzle for March 10.

The 352 delegates available March 10:

Idaho – 20 delegates
Michigan – 125 delegates
Mississippi – 36 delegates
Missouri – 68 delegates
North Dakota – 14 delegates
Washington – 89 delegates
