Former Warren Supporter WA State Senator Joe Nguyen Endorses Bernie Sanders

Bernie 2020, announced that State Senator Joe Nguyen (34th Legislative District), has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders for president. Nguyen, previously supported Sen. Elizabeth Warren for President.

“Now is the time for progressives in Washington state to come together to build a coalition that will lead to a real challenge to the corporate establishment,” said Senator Nguyen. “The choice is clear, someone who will fight for our values or more of the status quo. Join me in supporting Bernie Sanders for president.”

Nguyen was born in White Center, raised in Burien and currently lives in West Seattle. His experiences growing up in an immigrant community as the son of Vietnamese refugees and being raised by a single mother informs his service today.

He was elected as the first person of color to represent his district, and the first Vietnamese-American to serve in the Washington State Senate. In the legislature, his work is focused on income inequality, basic needs and workers’ rights.
