Bernie - 20 - 20

On Saturday, Nov. 21, BET.com will be livestreaming the 20/20 Leaders of America’s forum on issues related to criminal justice. The forum will feature a panel of 2016 presidential candidates, including Dr. Ben Carson, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley.

According to an article at www.inquisitr.com Hillary Clinton has opted out and will not appear.

“BET Networks continues to make a concerted effort to mobilize the significant voting bloc of unregistered African-Americans and encourage them to sign up and get to the polls,” said Debra L. Lee, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, BET Networks. “Joining forces with the 20/20 Leaders of America, a dominant voice in the conversation around issues of justice, provides our audience with a platform for comprehensive dialogue on the topics that matter most in the community.”

BET correspondent Jeff Johnson will host the forum, and it all kicks off at 1P/12C at Allen University, an HBCU in Columbia, South Carolina.

“This has never happened before. Gathering leading candidates during a presidential election cycle to discuss issues of justice that disproportionately affect communities of color,” said Ashley D. Bell, former Hall County Georgia Commissioner and 20/20 Club Co-Chair. “This unique event has to be shared with communities around the nation.

The 20/20 Club is a collective of politicians, prosecutors, attorneys and law enforcement officials who have been hosting listening sessions throughout the year to give both Democratic and Republican candidates a platform to speak on issues currently being faced by the African-American community. These issues include criminal justice reform and community policing tactics.

Other organizations co-hosting the forum include Facebook, IMPACT, Insight America, the National Black Police Association and the League of Cities Black Caucus.

I wish one candidate at least would address the hopelessness and how to fix it in inner city ghettos! It hasn’t been mentioned by any of them so far! You want to reduce crime, poverty, and racism…attack the root of the problem!

I believe Glass Steigal should be reimplemented. I also believe that Bill Clinton signed an order canceling out Glass-Steigal that it led to the financial melt down of 2008. Why doesn’t anyone bring this up to Hillary Clinton?

You are mostly correct. Bill went along with the GOP and gave Wall Street a free hand to wreck the economy. Not only repealing Glass-Steagal, but killing efforts to regulate the new derivatives markets. For a solid education on this, watch “Inside Job” narrated by Matt Damon.

    Wall Street owns our government.
Our only hope is a Bernie revolution, all else is half measures, at best.

It’s history to Hillary. Her deep dark secret: she’s a cookie baker at heart.

I lived in N. St. Louis(Ferguson) for 1 year back in 89-90 and I know exactly what you are talking about. We badly need to spend some money in these places and create some opportunities. Every part of the inner cities seems horribly neglected from the schools, ballfields, parks, shopping districts. all of it. We can put people to work re-building these communities.

BernieSanders does all the time. He says real African American unemployment numbers are over 50 percent. He says he wants Wall St to pay taxes on trades to fund free public college. He wants to end privatized prisons. He says he wants $15, an hour for new min. Wage. He wants to end the brutal militaristic Police, and create serious consequences for their racist actions. Watch Bernie Sanders, Ben Carson and others at the BET FORUM. in Atlanta discussing real solutions today. #BernieSanders2016
